Cadillac For Sale 1997 Eldorado ESC W/ Northstar Performance Head Studs

Some might call it sad that I still monitor Craigslist, Cars For Sale.com and other online and dead tree classified marketplaces to look at Eldorado's for sale.

It's not sad all the time. Sometimes it's exciting for me when I come across an interesting Caddy for sale. I stumbled across this listing last night.

Click picture to enlarge

If you're wondering about Northstar Performance Head Studs, this is what I've learned about them over the past few years.

They come in a Kit. It's Patented in the USA. Besides the Head Studs, The Kit contains the all important Alignment Fixture Plate or "X" Plate which will enable you to drill your stud holes out perfectly each time.

Over the past few years, coincidentally also down in Texas, a grifter named Tim Carroll who goes by a plethora of trade names such as Carroll Custom Cadillac, Carroll Diesel Pros & 4X4's, Pure Cadillac Service, LLC, PCS, LLC and probably more, has offered what Northstar Performance maintains to be "black market" head studs of their patented studs kit.

The Northstar Performance, Alignment Fixture Plate or "X" Plate, (I'm going to refer to it as the X Plate from here on out), is a substantial chunk of metal. It has to be machined for one thing and its weight adds to shipping costs.

What Tim Carroll has managed and still attempting to do is to convince many Do-it Yourself'ers and perhaps some mechanics to forego the X Plate and just order his head studs and "Freehand Drill" the stud holes out.

This way, Carroll can sell his studs cheaper, because he doesn't have the added expense of producing the X Plate and in my opinion, by leaving it out, he thinks he can conceivably stay out of patent infringement trouble with Northstar Performance.

One small problem, Free Handed Drilling out the block is not as simple as Carroll would have you believe. Especially if you've never done this before. It is very easy to crack the block. Think about it. Research it.

No one, except Carroll, knows where these "black market head studs" he's selling are made at. He will never release the name, telephone number or address of where these studs are made.

Another thing, Tim Carroll claims to be an engineer yet he will not tell you from what college or university he earned his engineering degree from. Nor does he list any membership(s) in any professional engineering societies.

He tells you that he has worked all over the world building skyscrapers but never provides the name of any company he's ever worked for.

He will never give you any information so that you can independently verify any of his claims.

Why do you think that is? Does that sound normal to you?

I know if you've arrived here because your Caddy is broken down and you need to get it back on the road as quickly as possible; you might not feel that you have extra hours to research all this.

Look I'm not advocating anyones' head studs, timeserts, norms, or other Northstar head gasket fix. I've been following all this very closly for the past three years now and I am trying to impart to you some of what I've learned from personal first hand experience with Tim Carroll.

Carrolls' workmanship is shoddy. No, it's down right fraudulent. How can you trust the quality of his head studs to be any different?

I also know many people who report a similar experience with him and they want to talk to you.  No one who's gone through it, wants to see someone else get Tim Carroll'd.

UPDATED See Anything Wrong With This Tim Carroll; Carroll Custom Cadillac Northstar Engine?

Click picture to enlarge
Source: Carroll Custom Cadillac Facebook

Tim Carroll can't claim ignorance about the camshaft sprocket with the exciter pin being on the wrong cam. He can't claim it was his assistant Ivan Robles' fault because Carroll was looking squarely at it. Look carefully and you can see Carroll's reflection. He's staring right at the engine in this photo and you can clearly see that sprocket with pin is on the wrong cam.

And uh, oh yeah, it was shipped out that way. The person who received it had to pay another mechanic around $1,000.00 to find the problem and repair it. As Tim Carroll would say, "UGH!"

By the way, if you can find this photo on the Carroll Custom Cadillac, Facebook you'll see that Carroll has deceptively cropped out the sprocket in question.

UPDATE: Welcome Ivan Robles, Facebook friends! Just to be clear, I do not hate Mr. Robles. If you read this post, I was in fact defending him as it is my understanding that Tim Carroll blamed him for placing the pin on the wrong cam. I was merely showing that Carroll should have known about it since he photographed it.

Also, Mr. Robles has nothing to do with the Demand Letter that I recently sent Tim Carroll and Carolyn Carroll. If I am forced to file a police report he could be a potential witness.

2011 Phone Message From Tim Carroll to a Customer

Here is a startling phone message that Tim Carroll left for one of his, apparently disgruntled, Carroll Custom Cadillac, customers he called "Vincent."

There are some similarities of how Carroll operated back then and still conducts himself today.

Carroll wanted to paint the man's car to make up for some falling out they had.

Apparently, when that didn't work out, "Vincent" took to the Internet to write about his experience.

Carroll's response was to threaten to:
"Write up a page about disgruntled people and how they can uh interfere and uh believe me, I'll definitely make it to where everybody will know who you are and why you did it and how, you know, ungrateful you are [...] everybody will know your name. Every other mechanic out there is gonna know who you are and be careful to deal with you. I'll write a full-blown page on it..." (Emphasis added).
Just some friendly advice here and that is that you better be very careful and think long and hard about it before you ever get involved with Tim Carroll and Carroll Custom Cadillac.

Debunking Another Tim Carroll; Carroll Custom Cadillac Lie - Demand Letter

This morning I noticed that Tim Carroll took to his Carroll Custom Cadillac, Facebook to write some more and easily debunkable lies about me:
Click picture to enlarge

Carroll writes: "This man wrote a letter of demand to my ex wife Carolyn with demands, he was not man enough to send me one!"
When the reality is that I sent a Demand Letter to both Tim Carroll and Carolyn Ann Dick Carroll aka Carrie Carroll on the same day:

Click here to download a high quality scan of the letters (.pdf)
The letters are pretty self explanatory as to what steps I must take after the 30 days elapse and Carroll hasn't met my Demand.

By the way, I sent four letters total. One each to Tim Carroll and Carolyn Carroll by certified mail return receipt requested. Which I might add Carroll wasn't man enough to sign for and two letters regular mail with a Certificate of Mailing. In any event, Carroll has acknowledged receiving the letters.

On Saturday, 05 November 2016, at 4:07 pm CDT, Tim Carroll phoned me and acknowledged receiving the letters. Carroll also stated that "I can see where you're coming from." The telephone line mysteriously went dead.

That telephone call was recorded and you can listen to it by clicking here. (.wma)

I didn't hear from Carroll again until Sunday, 27 November 2016 when he sent me the following email:
From: Carroll Custom Cadillac <carrollnorthstar@live.com>
Sent: Sunday, November 27, 2016 14:40
To: Ed Hepner
Subject: Carolyn

I am sending this email to demand you stop your criminal defamation of Character against me!

I am also telling you and not asking you! My ex wife Carolyn is not part of this or my company, she stopped working for me 16months ago when she became disabled and went thru major surgeries and I have NOT hired her back.

If you ever send her another POS BS letter, I will come to you so you can explain why to my face?

Since you have a hard time comprehending anything? You need to comprehend this; the moment I found out you were defaming me knowingly, I had the legal right to stop! Why you have no comprehension of you CRIME is beyond me????

I gave you something I have never given anyone and the whole time I was customizing your car, you were lying to people and telling them that the car I was painting was in fact not yours?? What an ass!

How in the Hell could you do that to me? You humiliated me in the public knowingly and lied!! That Ed is a crime, I have the right to sue you.

I have to ask you; why would you stop me? Why did you not want the custom car?

All I can figure is you have a issue? IDK?

So this email will stand in court, STOP! I am demanding you to stop! And figure out how to apologize and who knows? I am easy to forgive, BUT until you do, I have the legal right to demand you remove this car from my property, it is safe out back and I am here and the gates will open!!!!

It belongs to you and you committed a crime against me and I want you to remove it.

I am preparing to file a formal complaint against you for harassment, that will be the beginning of seeking legal justice against your criminal acts.

I am so amazed you have no clue to the legal knowledge of your crime? Just blows my mind!

And furthermore; nothing you have done has slowed the many good people who come here or buy engines, every since you did this again, I have been overwhelmed with work.

The last time you did this, I was likewise overwhelmed with those who hate the crime you committed!

The ball is in your court, but I will NOT hold my breath!
My response was simple. I wrote: "You have 8 days."

Tim Carroll's response to that:
From: Carroll Custom Cadillac <carrollnorthstar@live.com>
Sent: Sunday, November 27, 2016 18:48
To: chevail at msn.com .
Subject: You have NO time left!

You have ZERO days left PERIOD!

I will be filing the complaint tomorrow and if you do not remove your car I will turn it over to the County!

I will taking your screenshots of your crime against me and much more! I will never except your apology!

I am finished with your harassment, I will now seek legal recourse.

You have until the first of Dec to remove this car before I turn it over to the county.

PERIOD! Your done here!

You have ZERO legal rights, you gave those up when you committed your crimes against me!
My response to that was another simple: "You have 7 days."

Carroll responded:
From: Carroll Custom Cadillac <carrollnorthstar@live.com>
Sent: Monday, November 28, 2016 10:40
To: chevail at msn.com .
Subject: FOREVER FINISHED! REMOVE YOUR DAMN CAR!

You have none! You have sealed your fate with me!

Now get your damn car off my land!

You must have a serious mental issue to not know legalities of what you have done? That is IDIOCY!

I did not 'ask' you to remove your car, I 'demanded' it before I turn it over to the county, THINK FOR YOURSELF???

Let me be very clear; I would rather DIE, then to ever help out an asshole who committed so many crimes against me!

What you have done is UNFORGIVABLE! Open your freaking mind! I said I would as soon DIE!!!! Then to ever lift another finger to help you!

You suck! Your a LIAR! Your dishonest, a back stabbing POS! Your too damn numb to even realize what you have done.

You are a CRIMINAL!

I am forever finished doing anything for you!

YOU HAVE COMMITTED HORRIFIC (KNOWINGLY) SLANDERING DEFAMATION OF MY CHARACTER ONLINE!!!!~~! THIS IS A CRIMINAL ACT ON YOUR PART! I HAVE RECORDED ALL OF IT FOR LEGAL RECOURSE. YOU CROSSED A LINE THAT CAN NEVER BE FORGIVEN.
READ THE DAMN LAWS!
I responded to that email this morning with: "You have 6 days."

Which led, apparently to this mornings Facebook post. I've posted these emails because I believe that they reveal the true nature of this "man." He simply will not tell the truth even when he knows what he is writing/saying is false and can be easily disproven.

UPDATED Warnings about Texas Grifter Tim Carroll, Carroll Custom Cadillac Appearing on Caddyinfo.com

Click Picture to Enlarge

Warnings about Tim Carroll and Carroll Custom Cadillac from those whom he has victimized and defrauded continue to appear around the Internet.

One of the very latest appeared last night on Mr. Bruce Nunnallys' CaddyInfo.com Forum.

First off, let me say that I do not believe that Mr. Nunnally is intentionally aiding and abetting Tim Carroll. Rather, I believe that Carroll tricked Mr. Nunnally in to promoting him, in much the same fashion that Carroll tricked all of us into sending him our cars and our cash.

However, all these people coming forward with their tales of being ripped off by Carroll can no longer be ignored by a reasonable minded person.

Tim Carroll claims to have "thousands and thousands of fans and satisfied customers the world over," -- yet-- in all the time this blog has been up, I have not heard from one single person who claims to be a satisfied client of Carrolls'. Pretty odd don't you think? I really have to wonder if any exist.

Therefore, I am publicly calling on Mr. Nunnally and his management team to publicly disavow Tim Carroll and Carroll Custom Cadillac.

You can laugh this off at your own peril. The longer that caddyinfo promotes Carroll, the more its reputation along with Bruce Nunnally's is becoming sullied and soiled.

UPDATE: caddyinfo.com Moves to Distance itself from Tim Carroll & Carroll Custom Cadillac
The Carroll Custom Cadillac posts have been moved to a sub forum under the 19th hole and Bruce Nunnally, caddyinfo.com site owner, put a disclaimer on his business distancing caddyinfo from CCC.

Texas Grifter Tim Carroll Unable to Keep His Lies Straight

Tim Carroll three days ago in reply to one of his victims who had written a derogatory comment about him on one of his YouTube videos wrote that he:
was a Union member the whole time I lived there and made excellent money and constant work! Before being self employed
However, in a "Response from the owner," he wrote only 10 months ago to a derogatory Google Reviewer, he said that:
I fell into a tail spin and drank nearly a 5th of Vodka a day, unable to keep a job and hell to anyone who dare to meet me. I begged God for help but none came, I could not keep a job, I had extreme skills and yet let them go without the desire to do anything but want to die. I destroyed my wife's life and I felt responsible for everything, if I could have been a better father? How bad did my baby boy feel that would make him take his life. Nothing I could do could ever change the set in stone disaster, I spent time in and out of jail, I tried to take my own life several times. Through this living hell, I did many things, ruthless, I cared for no one but those I hurt and all I could do was keep hurting them
It's truly amazing the amount and scale of lies that Carroll writes almost on a daily basis, when anyone with an Internet connection can go back and catch him.

Carroll also constantly claims to be an engineer yet he never tells what college or university he obtained his degree from or what professional engineering societies he is a member of.

It would also be a good idea to ask to see his liability insurance policy and then verify with the insurance provider that it's actually in force, as well as ask to see any business or occupational licenses that the State of Texas and Collin County might require and ask for his Federal Tax ID Number. There are likely more but this is off the top of my head.

Texas Grifter Tim Carroll Has Another Faulty Mental Construct

I was perusing Tim Carroll's, Carroll Custom Cadillac website just now and couldn't help but notice that Carroll has a page dedicated to my "demise."

After reading Carroll's, whatever that is that he's attempting to pass off as the English language, I must say, So what?

None of this is germane when the fact is that Tim Carroll has stolen nearly $8,000 dollars from me as well as my Caddy.

Further, this has been going on since 01 March 2014.

I'm writing this to anyone who has arrived here who might have a Northstar System Cadillac needing repairs and who is doing their due diligence in finding a mechanic.

The point that I want to impress upon your mind, is what if you do engage CCC and wind up having a complaint or falling out, will Carroll do you the same way he's done me?

In my opinion, Carroll's writing all this is one way to show others what will happen to them if they do complain. It serves to frighten and intimidate off anyone who does contemplate complaining. Remember, Carroll will have your private information and he obviously doesn't mind broadcasting it to the world.

And what about a falling out or complaint? Let me tell you that there are many folks from around the country who have been defrauded by Carroll and they want to talk to you.

Just a friendly warning. Contact me any time.

Recent Chatter About Tim Carroll & Carroll Custom Cadillac on an XLR Forum

The OP, "Big Duck," a Junior Member from Granbury, Texas, wrote on 08 June 2016, in the thread he titled "Rebuild an 2008 XLR-V," how he had recently purchased a 2008 Cadillac XLR-V with less than 10,000 miles which developed a knock. Upon closer examination he says that he found 'sparkles' in his oil and 'play' in Nos. 1 & 2 rod bearings.

The result was that he removed that engine and replaced it with a 'crate engine with supercharger.' Now, he wants to get the original motor rebuilt, for which he is asking if anyone knows of a reputable shop.

He also reports a problem and requests assistance with the car wanting to downshift in 4th gear when he 'stabs' it.

Around an hour later the Forum Member, "Fireduck69," from Northeast Pennsylvania, replied to 'highly recommend' Tim Carroll and left the url to the Carroll Custom Cadillac website: www.carrollcustomcadillac.com.

Sixteen days later on 24 June 2016, Mad_Trbo, a Forum Junior Member from Dallas says that he had 'reached out' to Carroll but 'never heard anything back.'

"Big Duck" replied that day and said that he hadn't been able to contact Carroll either and renewed his request for help in finding a reputable 're-engine rebuilder.'

A little over two months later on 02 September 2016, "Big Duck" updates his thread to let everyone know that he'd 'been trying to establish phone communication with Tim Carroll since June with no luck.' He said he'd received some texts from Carroll in which Carroll wrote that 'he would love to work on the engine and would get in touch shortly' but never did.

He mentioned that Carroll had texted him that he was going to be on T.V. in an upcoming episode of "CarFix" about his head studs was the last thing "Big Duck" wrote.

Other than a rather cryptic comment by "GizmoQ" a Forum Supporting Member from St. Louis, Metro Area, Missouri, about 'Carroll Customs is my namesake, I don't consider him the best.'

Interesting Thread About Tim Carroll & Carroll Custom Cadillac on Caddyinfo Forum

I guess it was one night last week or the week before I was on caddyinfo and stumbled across a post titled, "Ac noise hot air." The OP, Ben ATX, has a 2000 Cadillac Eldorado ESC and started the thread wanting advice on an air conditioning problem.

He opens his post stating that he recently had his Caddy "repaired because of over heating." Then goes on to write rather ambiguously that "Yes it was the head gaskets." As you can see for yourself, he doesn't indicate if he had head studs, time serts, Norms inserts or gave any indication of who did the repair.

As caddyinfo members where trying to diagnose his ac probs, and the thread is unfolding, it begins to read like his engine is beginning to fall apart.

Over a period of time it comes out that none other than Tim Carroll and Carroll Custom Cadillac or Pure Cadillac Service or Carroll Diesel Pros & 4X4's or whatever he's currently going by did the "repair."

Incredibly, around page 4., another CCC customer, CTS V, chimes in about his very recent and perhaps ongoing experience with Tim Carroll.

Where will it all end?

Tim Carroll Double Crosser

Hello again, your friendly blogger here;  Back on 21 December 2015, I was contacted by email by Tim Carroll who apologized to me for his behavior and promised to repair my Caddy and return it to me in a reasonable time. Here is is 11 September 2016 making 21 December, 265 days ago and still no car and I haven't heard from Carroll since early July.

Despite the passage of eight months and three weeks, for me, an agreement we made on 21 December was that I would take down this blog and he would remove clearly false and defamatory Facebook postings he had made about me.

I've shown to be false in earlier posts here at VTC&CCC.

Earlier today I am scrolling down the Carroll Custom Cadillac, Facebook to back this time last year to discover the posts in question have been restored.

It seems that Carroll must have been laughing at me so naive to believe him, again, remove the truth about him while he is still publicizing falsehoods about me.

Are you starting to get it? Are you starting to see the kind of person you're dealing with here?

He's left me no alternative but to set this blog to public in order to defend myself from his boorish and false claims which I in no uncertain terms dispute.

Tim Carroll: 'Wind Come; Go Boom, UGH!"

Earlier this morning, Tim Carroll, in a Facebook post apparently in response to VTC&CCC's "Cody From Massachusetts," post, Carroll actually reveals that he stored "thousands of antique Cadillac parts" underneath a "temporary shop," which in my opinion, looks like one of those temporary party covers that I see my neighbors construct for their children's birthday parties.

Of course, in my opinion, you can't believe anything the man says or posts but we'll play along and say that you really have to question the judgment of a man who'd store all these, I guess, extremely valuable and probably irreplaceable parts in such a manner.

Of course Carroll now has the advantage of stringing that poor antique Cadillac owner along for months or years with his endless excuses and poor mouthing.

Cody From Massachusetts: Tim Carroll/Carroll Custom Cadillac Sent Wrong Engine & Engine Sent Was Botched

I received a voice mail from Cody this afternoon. I phoned him back, he was at work so we didn't get to talk for long. Cody is "lucky" if you can call it that though. He only ordered a so called "rebuilt" engine from Tim Carroll and Carroll Custom Cadillac or Pure Cadillac Service, LLC, or PCS or Carroll Diesel Pros & 4X4's or whatever "alias" Carroll is lately running under.

In other words his potential loss was $4,000 rather than $8,000 - $10,000 plus a botched Caddy.

The carrollcustomcadillac.com website page on "rebuilt" Northstar engines:

 click picture to enlarge
The Carroll Custom Cadillac Facebook page displaying a photograph of Cody's alleged "rebuilt" engine:

Cody told me that "I was one of the people who tried to buy a motor from that guy." He went on to say that "he sent it to me and it was the wrong motor for my car."

"As soon as I got it I checked all the numbers on it and I looked at the number on the block, it didn't match up with the year of my car," he said.

"So you know it took me months to get that guy (Tim Carroll) on the phone and the only time I got him on the phone was when I told him I had an issue with the motor he sent me and he finally called me back."

Typical excuses begin

"Carroll was like 'oh we crossed shipped the motor, you got the wrong one when you send that one on to the guy who needs it I'll get you yours' and there was no motor. Carroll never had another motor built."

Cody went on to say "So he was all nice and had an excuse 'Oh the storm wiped me out' and this and that and finally I said you know 'just refund me my money and I'll figure something else out'"

Cody said Carroll said that he couldn't give him his money all at once. "You'll have to take it in payments" Cody recalled Carroll remarking. Cody said that he responded to that "Well you got paid twice for the same motor you should got my money to refund."

So, Cody told me, "I sent Carroll another email that said, 'Look if you can't refund my money, I'll just do a charge back on my card.' And as soon as I sent him that email Carroll got so ugly."

Cody said that he wouldn't "bite" at Carroll's ugliness and turned it over to his wife who did some research and turned it over to Paypal. "And she told Paypal what was going on, and she said 'it sounded like Carroll was trying to drag it out till it was too late for us to do anything about it.'

Cody said that Paypal "immediately turned it into a claim and they gave Carroll ten days to refund out money and they shut his Paypal account down. They locked it right up. And right after that happened that's when Carroll's Facebook page disappeared."

Cody continued that after all this happened Carroll sent him an email that said, 'You know I've got this motor sitting here but I'm not going to send it to you, you don't deserve it.'

Cody believes that this is Carroll's way of getting him to release the claim with Paypal because, according to Cody (I've never used Paypal) after you release a claim you can't reinstate it. "You can only put one claim in and if you let that claim go, you're screwed," Cody explained.

In an email Cody received from Carroll just this Wednesday, 16 December 2015, Carroll was using the excuse that a 'storm had taken out his entire shop.' Cody said that "was the last straw for me. I said (to Carroll) refund me my money and I'll go figure something else out."

Cody said that Carroll replied that he would "have to do it (refund the money) in payments." To which Cody replied "either refund me all my money or I will do a charge back and as soon as I said that he got so mad."

Cody said that "Carroll writes these emails trying to make you feel like you're a bad person and Carroll is very arrogant."

Cody said that Carroll told him that "maybe if you apologize to me, I'll build your motor." Cody mused that he had paid him all this money he didn't owe him any apology. "Just give me my motor or my money."

Cody pointed out to me the same thing that Larri From Phoenix did, that Carroll uses the Internet to solicit people from far away. In other words the great distance means that you'd have to spend as much or more money that you're out, so folks just throw up their hands and give up.

Substandard Motor
Cody said that the motor that Carroll did send to him that he "inspected that motor pretty thoroughly -- I looked down inside the cylinders with a bore scope, and Carroll didn't replace any of the pistons, half of the pistons had big scorch marks in the top of them where they were overheated. It had the (head) studs in it, but that was the only thing. All the cams were all worn, he didn't regrind any of the cams. It was just like he took the motor apart, cleaned it,  put the studs in it and put it back together."

Cody said, "If I wouldn't have checked the numbers on that motor, I would have put it in my car and it wouldn't have run right -- if it ran at all -- it wouldn't have run properly, because it's not designed for a '96 car."

Cody said that he still had his original motor and planned to have someone local rebuild it.

Since we didn't get to talk but for a few minutes, I will probably be updating this post before long.

I noticed that VTC&CCC had a visitor arrive here today by googling "carroll custom cadillac." I decided to click on that referral link in order to get some sense into what this visitor was seeing. Below is one webpage that appears there:

The Vincent Magallon reviewer, Tim Carroll has mentioned in the past as being one of his business "partners." Which leads me to wonder if Magallon doesn't have some sort of financial incentive for giving CCC such a glowing review. Just asking.
